The natural parasite cleanse protocol below summarizes our 15 years of parasite cleansing and detoxification experience. Based on our research, it is one of the best natural ways you can do to get rid of parasites, naturally and safely.
The idea of the natural parasite cleanse protocols is simple:
You starve the parasites, make them weak, and strengthen your immune system to fight future infections.
Special consideration was given in the protocol to both effectiveness and safety in order to avoid any parasite cleanse side effects or parasite die off symptoms. Safety should always comes first. Especially when you naturally cleanse at home.

Intestinal Parasite Cleanse
Duration: week 1 and when needed during the cleanse.
The objective of the intestinal parasite cleanse is simple : starve the parasites. To do so, you get rid of waste buildup and undigested food particles in your intestines that feed the parasites.
One of the best ways to naturally and safely cleanse the intestines, is to do a natural oxygen colon cleanse (Oxy-powder):
Oxy-Powder releases natural oxygen in the intestines that loosens waste buildup and undigested food particles that tend to stick to the intestinal wall. This allows the body to flush out this waste naturally through normal bowel movement.
Most people start to feel a significant relief from many of their symptoms as they eliminate the stored waste. Don’t be surprised if you see dead parasites or fungus in your stool. This is common, as the waste buildup is the food source of many intestinal parasites and fungus. While this may not be the most pleasant thing to see, it is still much better to have these out of your body.
There’s another reason we recommend to start the parasite cleanse with the intestinal cleanse. It may also help the body to eliminate the dead parasites and their toxins quicker.
During the parasite cleanse, the body eliminates many of the dead parasites and their released toxins through bowel movements. For this reason, you want to make sure your colon is free from waste buildup that can slow down the elimination process, and make toxins circulate in your system longer. Having waste buildup in the colon is one of the main reason behind the side effects people experience during the cleanse. It just takes the body much more time to eliminate these toxins.
Herbs That Kill Parasites
Duration: weeks 2-6.
So we cut down the main food source of the parasites, now it is time to make them even more weak. There are a number of unique herbs known to kill parasites that can further improve the parasite cleanse due to potent anti parasitic properties in them.
A single antiparasitic herb, however, is not going to work against all parasitic infections. Since different herbs use different mechanism to kill parasites, it is common to include multiple herbs as a part of the parasite cleanse.
The wormwood, black walnut, clove combination is one of the most common herbal parasite cleanse, known to kill different types of worms [1], parasites, bacteria and fungus [2]. One reason you always want to include clove, is due to its ability to inhibit parasite eggs and larvae in the body, which is essential in order to disrupt the parasite life cycle.
During weeks 2-6 in our parasite cleanse, we recommend to take Dr. Group’s Paratrex which we find both effective and safe.
- Ingredients: black walnut, wormwood, clove, epazote, diatomaceous earth, neem, fulvic acid.
- Directions: take 3 capsules 20 minutes before breakfast and 20 minutes before lunch. If you have never used Paratrex before, start with 1 capsule twice a day and gradually increase each day.
Parasite Cleanse Diet
Duration: weeks 1-6.
The parasite cleanse diet plays a key role in the parasite cleanse; you want to choose the best foods that kill parasites, and also avoid problematic foods known to feed parasites or weaken your immune system.
Due to its importance, we wrote an entire separate post on the parasite cleanse diet plan, including natural home remedies, diy recipes and the relevant scientific evidence.

Below is a summary of the key guidelines, foods to avoid and foods to eat during the parasite cleanse.
Foods To Avoid
Foods to avoid include most processed foods, foods that are high in carbs, fried foods, and sugary beverages. We also recommend to limit gluten, wheat, dairy, and alcohol as much as possible, as these can also feed parasites in some cases.
Most people do very well on a balanced medium protein, medium fat, medium carb diet. Unless you are also dealing with a candida infection, there is usually no need to drastically lower your carbs or be super strict.
You may also want to watch for digestive issues and sensitivity to different foods you may eat, as these may weaken your immune system. If you suspect you have sensitivity to a certain food, eliminate it from your diet for a few days and see if it helps.
Foods That Kill Parasites
Based on our experience, what works for most people is to eat a clean, whole food based diet. Certain foods do have unique components in them that can kill different types of parasites, fungus and other pathogens. The best common foods that kill parasites include: pumpkin seeds, papaya seeds, garlic, turmeric, coconut oil, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and cinnamon.
Try to eat raw fresh fruits and vegetables every day. These are high in insoluble fiber that helps to promote healthy digestion and good bowel movements. Think about insoluble fiber as rough brooms inside your intestines that grabs accumulated waste, toxins and dead parasites on their way out.
A good example is our detox salad meal recipe, which you can see in the picture above. This recipe is very rich in insoluble fiber, and combines a raw coleslaw recipe with parasite cleansing foods and herbs. (See recipe).
Probiotics For Parasites
Duration : weeks 1-6.
More and more studies suggest that the use of probiotics may help to control parasites and other pathogens [3]. The researchers believe that probiotics can help the immune system to fight future infections as well [4].
That is exactly the reason we recommend probiotics during the parasite cleanse. It is less in order to kill parasites, but more in order to support the immune system ability to control and fight future infections.
Good options are dairy free vegan probiotics from a trusted source that guarantees the effectiveness and safety of the probiotic strains that are in the formula.
It is important that the company who makes the probiotics also guarantees their stability and potency. One study that tested 15 different probiotic supplements found that only 4 out of the 15 products met their label [5].
We have seen this many times in our research as well.
For the parasite cleanse we like to use Bacillus laterosporus (Latero-Flora) during week 1-6 of the parasite cleanse. This strain has a natural ability to encapsulate itself when exposed to different environment changes. Due to this ability, it is highly stable and can easily pass the stomach acids and become very active in the body.
Parasite Cleanse Side Effects
Parasite cleanse side effects may occur as parasites start to die during the cleanse. These symptoms can affect your entire body and your well-being.
Common symptoms may include: skin itching, rashes, flu-like symptoms, fever, headache, weakness, fatigue, nausea, body aches and pain, digestive issues such as diarrhea, bloating, gas, cramps, stomach pain, tenderness, excess mucus, breathing problems, and even vomiting. Some people also feel anxiety, depression, brain fog and additional mind balance symptoms.
Parasite cleanse die off symptoms do not mean that the parasite cleanse is working. This is a common misconception that is simply not true.
Based on our experience, most parasite cleanse side effects are unnecessary and you should avoid them with proper attention. We wrote an entire separate post on how to avoid parasite cleanse side effects, or minimize them in case you already experience issues. We included simple guidelines and natural home remedies we have found both effective and safe.

Beyond The Parasite Cleanse – Maintain Your Results
Should I still continue to use paratrex or other herbal parasite cleanse products after week 6?
Unless there are still symptoms present, we recommend to stop taking all antiparasitic herbs and see how you feel. You can still still include antiparasitic foods in your diet if you like.
For maintenance, you can use oregano oil a few times a week, which also makes a great home remedy during winter against various infections. Multiple studies suggested that carvacrol, the major active component in oregano oil, have antiparasitic, antibacterial, and antifungal properties [6, 7, 8].
When you get oregano oil, make sure it is the mediterranean oregano oil variety which typically has the highest content of carvacrol.
Oregatrex, is a very good example, and one of the few certified organic oregano oils in the US that guarantee a minimum of 80% carvacrol.
Parasite Cleanse – Why Six Weeks?
The life cycle of human parasites varies and can take anywhere between several weeks to months from the egg phase to the adult parasite phase. The average duration of parasite cleanse we recommend is 6 weeks.
Using high amount of aggressive antiparasitic herbs and foods will not shorten this time. In most cases, you will have to stop the cleanse and let your body recover, before you can start again. For this reason, for the best parasite cleanse benefits, consistency is the key.
Parasites In Humans Stats
Most people think of parasitic infections as something that only occurs in poor and developing countries. Parasitic infections, however, affect millions of people in United States every year.
According to the US centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), more than 60 million people in the United States are chronically infected with Toxoplasma gondii alone [9].
Parasites are designed by nature to use our body as their host, and they do it very effectively. The research identifies specific mechanisms that allow parasites to attach to the intestinal walls using suction cups or hooks, and disrupt our immune system’s ability to recognize them as invaders and fight them. As this is not scary enough, multiple studies clearly demonstrate how parasites can influence and manipulate the way the host behave [10].
Not surprisingly, when it comes to parasites in humans, most experts believe it is not a question of if, it is more a question of how many parasites you have, and how they affect your health.
